New Year Resolutions: A Buddhist Perspective

  • Sakya Buddhist Center, Los Angeles 220 Pier Avenue Santa Monica, CA, 90405 United States (map)

Join us at Dechen LA for a refreshing and inspiring morning talk on how to approach New Year resolutions through a Buddhist lens. Rather than relying on fleeting willpower, we will explore how authentic change arises from clarity, intention, and steady practice.

Drawing on timeless Buddhist teachings, this session will look at how to bring meditation into daily life, gently let go of negative habits, and cultivate positive, beneficial patterns that support a happier and more meaningful life. We’ll discuss practical ways to create space and balance amid a busy schedule, and how qualities like kindness and compassion can transform both ourselves and those around us.

This talk also marks the beginning of a new monthly series, each session offering a practical spiritual challenge to help us stay accountable and deepen our practice throughout the year.

All are welcome—newcomers and experienced practitioners alike. Start the year with intention, clarity, and a supportive Dharma community.
