Tibetan New Year (Tib. Losar) Celebrations

We had a fun time at Sakya Center LA on Sunday, February 19, bringing in the Tibetan New Year.

Reciting Losar Prayers for 2023

Losar officially starts on Tuesday, February 21, roughly one month later than Chinese New Year, and this year will be the year of the Water Rabbit.

As is traditional in Buddhist temples across the world, we celebrated by reciting prayers for the happiness of all beings followed by lots of delicious food and a good chat.

Special prayers were recited for those killed or impacted by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Celebrating the year of the Water Rabbit

Happy New Year to everyone!
