Stories of Enlightenment: The Life of the Buddha

  • Sakya Buddhist Center, Los Angeles 220 Pier Avenue Santa Monica, CA, 90405 United States (map)

Join us for an inspiring evening dedicated to the extraordinary life of Shakyamuni Buddha, the founder of the Buddhist tradition and the source of all the many schools of Buddhism we see in the world today.

Shakyamuni Buddha, Earth Touching Mudra

Through storytelling and reflection, we will journey through the key moments of the Buddha’s life—from his birth as a prince, to his renunciation of worldly pleasures, his profound meditation under the Bodhi tree, and his final awakening. Far more than a biography, this is the blueprint for our own path: a living example of how we too can break free from suffering and awaken the limitless compassion, wisdom, and power that lies within us.

Come and discover how the Buddha’s journey offers timeless guidance for modern life—showing us the steps we can take to transform our own minds and become a source of benefit for others.

As always, we’ll round out the evening with warm conversation, drinks, and delicious snacks, served in celebration of the Buddha’s enduring gift to the world.

All are welcome. No prior knowledge of Buddhism is needed—just bring your curiosity and an open heart.

We look forward to seeing you there!
